The PDF has 13 pages: a year view with every festival listed on one sheet, then one page per month with the festival names printed inside the date boxes, a Top 3 goals box and a ruled notes panel. What is inside the 2027 calendar PDF?

Page one is the full year on a single sheet: twelve small months with every festival date circled, and a side panel listing all 29 festivals and holidays with the day of the week. Pages two to thirteen are one month each, Monday to Sunday, with large date boxes you can write in.

Each monthly page also carries a side panel with that month's festivals, a Top 3 box for the goals that matter most that month, and ruled lines for notes. Which 2027 festivals give you a long weekend?

New Year's Day (1 January), Makar Sankranti (15 January), Good Friday (26 March) and Diwali (29 October) all fall on a Friday in 2027, and Holika Dahan (22 March), Mahavir Jayanti (19 April) and Bakrid (17 May) fall on a Monday. On the other side, Independence Day and Guru Nanak Jayanti fall on a Sunday, and Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Ganesh Chaturthi and Christmas fall on a Saturday.

How were the festival dates in this calendar worked out?

We calculated the Hindu festival dates for Hyderabad from the lunar day (tithi) in force at the time each festival is traditionally observed, for example sunrise for Ugadi, midday for Ram Navami and Ganesh Chaturthi, and evening for Diwali. Solar festivals such as Makar Sankranti and Baisakhi follow the sun's entry into the next zodiac sign.

Most Indian panchangs follow the same rules, so the dates match for most of the country, but a few festivals are kept a day apart in different regions, and Janmashtami in particular is sometimes celebrated on two consecutive days. Islamic festivals depend on the actual sighting of the new moon, so treat those four dates as expected dates and confirm them closer to the day.

How do you print this calendar so it looks right?

Print it in landscape at 100 percent scale (Actual size), not Fit to page, on A4 paper for the A4 file and A5 paper for the A5 file. Fit to page shrinks the margins unevenly and the notes lines stop lining up with the date boxes.

Paper weight matters more than most people expect. On 70 GSM office paper the ink shows through from the other side and the sheet curls within a few weeks on a wall; on 90 or 100 GSM paper the page stays flat and the colour stays clean. If you only have a black and white printer, the calendar still works: the clay festival boxes print as a light grey and the dates stay easy to read.

For a small desk calendar, download the A5 file rather than shrinking the A4 file onto A5 paper. Scaling A4 down makes the festival names inside the date boxes too small to read, which is why the A5 file is laid out separately, with the festival names moved into the side panel.

How can you turn the printed pages into a wall or desk calendar?

The simplest way is to punch one hole in the top centre of each page and hang all thirteen sheets on a single nail or pin, turning the page each month. A bulldog clip at the top does the same job on a notice board.

For a calendar that turns cleanly all year, wiro binding along the top edge is the neat option, and a sheet of card at the back keeps it stiff.
